Can you spot the error message?
- Yes, there’s an error message at the top of the screen which does look familiar….oh wait… isn’t that a Chrome error message? Yep, this digital signage implementation used the Chrome browser to display the wayfinding solution. There is nothing wrong with using Chrome as a digital signage software tool but it needs to be configured correctly.
- The error message states:Google Chrome didn’t shutdown correctly. To reopen the pages that you had open, click Restore.
- Restarting the unit will temporarily fix the issue. A power outage or Chrome crashing could have caused this message to appear. A graceful shutdown is always recommended
- To make sure this message does not appear at all, disable this by using the instructions here: How to disable the restore message in Chrome
- Also, make sure the Chrome is configured correctly. We recommend using Chrome Kiosk mode using the latest version. Why the latest version, have a read of this article Google Chrome Kiosk Mode.
- There are also many other digital signage software packages available but if you’re after an Open Source and Free solution then Chrome will do the job.
