Hello Everyone!

We have a netowrk of monitors located in retail shops, however no internet connection and want to feed them with content recorded on SD cards.

I am looking for freeware software which can help me to create a loop of presentation, and – this is the most important – copy the presentation to SD memory disc.

I`ll be thankful for tips and suggestions.

Hi Rafal, welcome to the portal.

With regards to your question, does the monitors have any build in players?

Can it play images?

Generally, most build in players should be able to play images (jpg) in a loop. So I don’t think you need to use another freeware software.

Also, you should be able to buy a SD card readers and just copy the files to the SD card. Hopefully, this is what you’re trying to achieve.

Hi, I have a situation where I want to play-out live sporting events from a free to air broadcaster. I believe that free to air is exactly what it states and is available to be screened in a public area unlike cable or pay for view type broadcast that you must subscribe too. there may be licence issues with Foxtel. I am in Fiji and the broadcasters might change the rules on me because they will think I am competition for the advertising dollar. anyone know the rules on free to air broadcast? if legally a broadcaster can stop a digital sign from playing content. This has not happened yet I just want to be prepared….

From my point of view, Powerpoint has been the traditional tool for displaying content on a screen and but is quite limited in it’s capabilities.

There are several options you may want to consider:

1. Keep using powerpoint – however there is no easy way of scheduling content to be displayed on certain days or events. You can use certain tools or even the Microsoft Task scheduler to open up a powerpoint presentation at a particular time. I work at a small community college that has several satellite campuses as well as the main, and they want to add a digital signage system. Not too hard for just announcement graphics, but they also want one of the zones to display CNN and Fox news, switched every 15 minutes in addition to campus announcements, time/temp, etc. displayed in other zones. We would like to feed everything from the main campus, but the switched video feed is what’s throwing a monkey wrench into the whole project. We have a budget of $50K to put 12 – 15 DS monitors on the main and satellite campuses, and the only system I’ve found that can probably do what we want for that pricetag is the iCompel system by BlackBox (with some feature keys, DVI over IP streaming extenders, etc.) Anyone know of another system …
