First digital signage magazine in Australia

Posted by digitalsignageblog On September - 27 - 2010

We recently received the first digital signage magazine published by an Australia company (alchemedia publishing) and this is really a good sign of the growth of digital signage in Australia.
The great thing about the magazine was the case studies of digital signage implementations of local business in Australia. There is also the traditional advertisements of digital signage companies and manufacturers and this is really good to have as a local directory. We look forward to receiving future magazines and hope to eventually feature in an article.

There are many different ways in which to analyze the marketplace at this juncture of time, the least of which is the constant distraction we all get from the worst environmental catastrophe in our nation’s and possibly the world’s history – though I would suggest that Chernobyl was greater.

How do we react? How do we stay focused on our own lives and business? How do we not go crazy at the sight of the endless stream of oil spilling into the sea and our helpless position to do anything about it?

It is very simple really – sell.

Now how will that help you may ask? Well, my experience has always shown me that the best way to sell your customers is to engage with them, in person or on the phone – but always person to person. One of the completely unanticipated side benefits of reaching out and seeing how you can help someone with their business challenges is to help them focus on something they can get an immediate feeling of satisfaction from. You both will feel better – even if their is no immediate purchase. Just the discussion alone will lift our spirits.

So – as we move through the summer solstice and the days begin to shorten – remember – when you don’t know what you want or need to do – pick up the phone and talk to your customers – it’s amazing how much better we all will feel.

And if you want to see what we are up to – please visit our site, there are many new additions to our case studies as we spread our wings and grow.

Thanks.

Top 10 reasons why you should use digital signage

Posted by digitalsignageblog On April - 23 - 2010

This week, advertise me decided to put together our own TOP 10 reasons why you should use digital signage and here’s our list in no particular order:

  • The “wow” factor, if you want to stand out from your competitors, digital signage attracts attention and it’s definitely a way to attract customers into your store
  • Because the other guy down the road has it – this may sound childish but it’s human nature to feel as though you need it because someone else has it
  • For large shopping centres, digital signage is a revenue driving tool to generate money from advertisers. Digital signage can also used as a tool for notifying customers of information/sales/events to get more customers coming into the shopping centre
  • It helps engage the customers at the point of sale – sales have increased with this approach (you can easily find proof of this from case studies that can be found on the Internet)
  • Eliminates the cost and waiting time compared to printing. Content can be updated at any time and almost instantly
  • Digital Signage gives the user the ability to run campaigns at certain time blocks during the day, and switching over to show relevant information depending on the time of the day. That means you’re in control of what is displayed to your audience
  • Digital Signage can be used as a tool to interact with your customers. At times this can act as an extra sales person when all staff are busy – it definitely keeps customers entertained rather than waiting to be served.  Especially something for the blokes while they wait for their partners trying on countless clothes, it keeps everyone happy
  • It’s cool and makes the environment more “livelier”. If done correctly it creates a unique atmosphere
  • You will be able to display different types of content (advertisements, live TV, images, news, weather, basically whatever you want) on the same screen
  • It helps your marketing team effectively and efficiently communicate in messages with your customers, clients and employees

Do you agree or disagree with some of these reasons? Let us know of any other reasons why you should use digital signage.

Feel free to submit your answer as a comment.

Poland calling

Posted by minicom On September - 17 - 2009

We are attending today the “Digital Signage Trends” conference in Warsaw, organized by PDSA, the new Polish digital signage association. Once again, a great event organized very professionally. The agenda is rich and full of variety – first day was mainly training and technologies, second day use cases, case studies, marketing. For those who speak Polish you may take a glance at the agenda. Amazing how this local market mobilized 200 participants.

Digital Out-of-Home at PlakaDiva 2009

PlakaDiva 2009 is “poster and media” event that took place yesterday in Düsseldorf.

Digital Signage and the connection between Outdoor and Online were the main topics of the congress. The prominent experts as speakers and two case studies from Fanta and Germanwings, definitely gave some weight to this event.

plakadiva_blog

The absolute highlight of the event was the live demonstration of the digital out-of-home advertising speed. Mr. Guido Westerwelle wrote on a board a personal message: “You are on the move. Go to vote! Yours, Guido Westerwelle.” A picture of the action was taken and within couple of minutes over the Infoscreen server in München sent to Frankfurt. His message showed up on central infoscreens on the Frankfurt’s railway station and this was filmed. The short video of the message playing on Infoscreens was sent back immediately to Düsseldorf and was running on the screen at the congress. An excellent example how fast and flexible digital signage can be!
