Digital Out of Home network Park Cast, with screens in public and private parking facilities in the top DMA in the United States, is announcing the formation of an Advisory Board comprised of experts from across the DOOH space. “Park Cast believes that the industry as a whole is not working closely enough together and benefitting from everyone’s experience and knowledge. We have put together the advisory board to enable Park Cast to move in a better direction than would be possible only by ourselves. Each of the advisory board members are highly successful and capable of providing solid insight into market trends and new opportunities covering different angles of our industry,” said Joe Matriss, Park Cast’s Managing Director. The focus of the Advisory Board is divided into four roles: Business Consultant, Media Consultant, Content Design Consultant, and Content Management Consultant.

For the role of Business Consultant, Park Cast has tapped Catenate Enterprises CEO Joseph Scott. Mr. Scott has over 20 years experience as a business owner and CEO with expertise in a variety of industries having built and sold several companies. The most recent being one in the digital signage arena where he conceived, developed and sold a digital network deployed in golf course pro shops. “Having built companies from the ground up and working directly with investors I understand the magnitude of developing and implementing solid business plan. I look forward to working with the Park Cast team to manage the business plan as a ‘living document’ and playing a role in making Park Cast Network successful.” said Mr. Scott.

Responsible for a large portion of recent developments in the 3D Projection and Out of Home space, Pearl Media President Joshua Cohen has signed on to the Advisory Board as the Media Consultant. Having a knack for creating buzz in the media landscape, Mr. Cohen brings ample experience working with major brands and advertisers. “It’s exciting to be involved with Park Cast as they continue to grow and I look forward to helping to steer their media efforts in the most positive direction possible,” said Mr. Cohen.

Jeff Dougherty is part of the team at Blue Pony, a content creation company specializing in digital signage, and a company which Park Cast has utilized regularly for help with content. He will become the Content Design Consultant for the new Advisory Board. “Content is becoming evermore crucial to having a successful network that attracts top tier advertisers, and I am happy to help to guide Park Cast towards this end,” said Mr. Dougherty.

Finally, for the role of Content Management Consultant, Park Cast has brought in the well-known Jimmy Dun. Dun has actively engaged in digital signage industry activities and associations in various capacities for a decade and has worked with nearly everyone in the digital signage and media industry in his role at Dynasign. “In a diversifying network such as Park Cast, it is crucial to apply the best practices in delivering premium content channels with quality and relevancy to attract targeted audiences, and I look forward to contribute my expertise to make sure that everything runs smoothly in this regard,” said Mr. Dun.

Blue Pony won a DIGI for Best Ambient Content for our 9/11 10th Anniversary Tribute. The lead designer on this project was Talitha Shipman, who illustrated and animated the video. In order to tie all of these features together, Blue Pony built a customized interface with four main sections. The largest section plays The Super Denists videos from YouTube and other video coverage. Another section features reviews written by their patients and guests. A third section loops The Super Dentists’ three social media sites: Facebook posts and comments, Twitter activity, and their personal blog posts. Lastly, there is a section of the interface that showcases before and after pictures of patients smiles to make the interface more personal.
The content was displayed on the two main screens in their lobby to meet and greet guests, and provide digital content for patients as they wait for their appointments.

The overall goal for the project was to increase patients’ awareness of all the mediums of social media The Super Dentist is involved in, to promote their fun and playful environment, and inform patients of events and ways The Super Dentist is involved in their community. The interface was meant to communicate and educate exactly who the The Super Dentist is and how they are working to serve their patients in the possible way.

There was a lot going on in the project, and Blue Pony worked hard to find the best ways to blend the many functions into one, seamless interface. The client was more than pleased with the end product. They were impressed by the way Blue Pony was able to incorporate all of their wants and ideas into a project that compliments their brand and personality.

The digital signage was displayed among various screens within the casino, on end-caps, and throughout the hotel. The advertisement began running on the casino’s digital signage network in May 2011.

Aria had previously had an advertisement for the restaurant, but they were not achieving their desired results; guests did not recognize the restaurant’s brand, nor did they know about the unique dining experience it offered. Blue Pony was faced with the challenge of incorporating the Jean George Steakhouse logo, a bull’s nose, into the video in a repetitive, recognizable way without it appearing overdone.

The advertisement also needed to fit into the environment of the casino and hotel, and be able to communicate with many audiences due to the amount of locations this digital signage would be viewed.

To overcome the challenges we faced with this particular project, the Blue Pony design team was intentional with every detail, transition, and special effect to reflect the Jean George Steakhouse logo and brand. The images and scenes within the video communicated more than a restaurant’s design, it encompassed the temperature, mood, and environment of a dining experience. This allowed the video to be transcendent of the room it was viewed within; it attracted and communicated with more than one crowd or one audience.

As I began to wade through mountains of research, YouTube videos of the towers collapsing, helicopter footage shot by the NYPD, audio recordings of phone calls from trapped and frightened victims, and obituaries of the almost 3,000 people who were killed, I began to better understand the enormity of what had been lost that day. A death toll is just a number. It’s not a mother, uncle, best friend, or sister.

In the end, we decided to remember individuals, ordinary people who died on 9/11. I happened across an online newsletter organized by Arnie Korotkin. If it has to do with 9/11, he’s probably in the know. I sent him an email asking if the people on his mailing list might be interested in sharing memories and photos about the person they had lost. He thought they might be, and he forwarded my request to the thousands of contacts on his list. I started getting emails and phone calls from 9/11 family members. They’re a tight knit and determined group, these 9/11 families. They’ve lost so much, but many of them have turned tragedy into hope through scholarship funds or foundations to help raise money for causes they care deeply about.

The people that contacted me believe hope can flourish even among the ruins of devastation. Ever since that fateful day, they’ve been a force for change in our nation and world. Their stories have saddened me and inspired me at the same time. I hope others who watch our video also feel called to action.

It’s the least we can do to remember the 2,996 people who were killed ten years ago.

Initial meetings involved discussing the message, style, and visual ideas with Premier in order to meet their objective for the video. Sweetwater Sound wrote original song lyrics and instrumentation, and produced the record. A&V Company was the production company in charge of stage set-up and equipment installation and selection. Blue Pony coordinated all efforts and designed the visuals. This included conceptual development, illustrated storyboards, 2D and 3D animation techniques and video assembly. The completed video was then projected and mapped onto 3 dimensional stage walls. Blue Pony thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and having a team member on-site to see the video come to life at the conference.
