Interview with Eli Sasson, CEO & President @ Minicom

Posted by minicom On August - 31 - 2009

eli

Eli Sasson, President and CEO of Minicom Advanced Systems has just been interviewed @ Minicom KVM IT blog.

A bit more then six months after the Minicom’s split into two dedicated divisions – Digital Signage and KVM IT, it is explained how it came to that decision, as well as how the split was implemented. Also good to read is a “cautiously optimistic” prediction about both markets development – looking forward to the fast growth in 2010!

LED Screen as the Highlight of Open Air, Arbon

Posted by minicom On August - 31 - 2009

LED Screen was definitely the highlight of the SummerDays Festival, held last weekend in Arbon, Switzerland. Although the competition, in the shape of Deep Purple and Huriah Heep, was more than tough.

As one can see on the schema of the Open Air area, the screen was having a central space, and was even emphasized (the bullet No. 2).

And, it played a big role, specially when the public transportation schedule was published on it, or when the audience from back rows tried to see what Ian Gillan and the band are doing on the stage.

Weekend Fun: Comic for Digital Signage

Posted by digitalsignageblog On August - 30 - 2009

For this weekend fun, we want to share with you a comic on digital signage. I think this one has been floating around for a couple of day and it’s from the Blondie comic series by Dean Young & John Marshall. Thanks guys, we’re glad to see that the digital signage industry is getting noticed and acknowledged by the comic industry. Also, thanks to Ronnie for sharing this.

Comment on “Video in Print” Player by Marco

Posted by digitalsignageblog On August - 29 - 2009

Seems affordable for small scale projects but one of the issues is the battery life. Can the reader recharge the small screen player? Can it be reused?

Wow .5 per viewer sounds quite high.

Hi claude,

I’ll be interested to know how much one of these units would cost. Do you have an estimated figure?

Comment on “Video in Print” Player by Claude HAGEGE

The proposed solution is too expensive in Capex and I do not see the ROI.
Future of this category of advertising mixing printed and digital motion will come in the next years with the flexible screens (Philips, Sony and others are already showing prototypes on their websites and some major exhibitions like Las Vegas CES). Today, we have seen already outdoor tries using e-ink.

I would personally pay anything up to 0, seeing it is only a PR1, there are many high PR domains out there ranging from PR3 at ,500, this is were the big bucks are.

Obviously whoever contacted you wanted it probably for the name only Keyword rich domain! Have a great day.

Digital media is certainly becoming the main focus for advertsiing but print will never go away as tacticle gifts such as promotional gifts deliver a personal experience that digital media alone can not delver.

Comment on Digital Signage at the Melbourne Retail Expo 2009 by Stuart

Next year will be in Sydney, they alternate between Sydney and Melbourne every year.
Re digital signage, almost every stand had some part of it either showcasing their services or just pure entertainment.

Great show, although turnout was just average. Good thing (from what I’ve noticed) is that most of the visitors are genuine. So I guess quality counts over quantity. Look forward for next year.
